Refreshing Escape: Virgin Mojito Recipe

The classic mojito is a delightful summer drink, but sometimes you might crave that cool, minty refreshment without the alcohol. A virgin mojito is the perfect answer! This non-alcoholic mocktail captures all the essence of its boozy counterpart, offering a burst of citrus and a fragrant touch of mint. It's ideal for pool parties, picnics, or whenever you desire a tasty and light beverage.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey (or agave nectar or simple syrup)
  • 10 fresh mint leaves
  • Club soda or sparkling water
  • Lime wedges for garnish
  • Additional mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. In a tall glass, muddle the mint leaves and lime juice together. Muddling simply means gently pressing the leaves with a muddler (a bar tool, or even the back of a spoon) to release their fragrant oils.

2. Add your honey or preferred sweetener.

3. Fill the glass with ice.

4. Top it off with club soda or sparkling water.

5. Garnish with lime wedges and a sprig of mint.

Tips:

  • For a sweeter drink, adjust the amount of honey or sweetener to your taste.
  • Don't have fresh mint? You can substitute with a few drops of mint extract, but fresh mint adds the best flavor.
  • If you don't have simple syrup, you can make your own by simmering equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves.
  • Get creative with your garnish! Try adding a few slices of muddled cucumber or fresh berries for a unique twist.

Enjoy your refreshing virgin mojito!
